A good Diet & Cleanse Article from Dr Ed

It's mid February and much to my dismay I'm still sporting my holiday gut....so much for my New Year's weight loss resolution. My 2nd shot at weight loss begins February 17th, Ash Wednesday, with my annual 45 day Lent Diet & Cleanse.

Here are some of the benefits of the Lent Diet & Cleanse:

Hands down this is one of the easiest and healthiest diet & cleanses one can do. It DOESN'T involve being hungry or starving yourself, counting calories, restricting food portions, taking supplements or herbal formulas.  It works by cutting out refined sugars, processed foods and by eliminating and/or severely limiting  your complex carb (grain) intake,  then eating a natural diet (similar to what our great grandparents would have eaten)  of primarily  live (not heated above 105 degrees) and probiotic (cultured) foods.  

This Wed. Eating delicious, natural,live foods that satisfy the palate, nourish (build) the body, while at the same time detoxifying(cleansing) the body.

45 Day Lent Diet & Cleanse

1.  AS MUCH AS DESIRED
     Clean meats, cooked on the rare side (clean: no hormones/antibiotics), NOT factory farm raised 
     Eggs (free range/organic)                  Raw organic vegetables
     Raw milk & Raw cream                     Raw organic fruits
     Raw cheese                                    Steamed organic vegetables
     Raw butter                                       Homemade/healthy soups
     Water (filtered or spring)                    Unpasteurized organic vegetable & fruit smoothies
     Probiotic(cultured/organic)foods: Raw yogurt & kefir, kombucha, and pickled organic veggies

2.  WITH SOME MODERATION
     Ocean caught fish, especially tuna, swordfish & shark (high mercury levels)
     Raw unheated honey
     Organic brown rice

3.  NOT ON THIS DIET

     Grains: wheat, rye, barley, oats
     Pasteurized dairy: cheese, cream, sour cream, ice cream, butter, yogurt
     Unhealthy meat, poultry, eggs choices: NO factory farming, hormones, antibiotics & preservatives
     Farm raised and fresh water fish
     Fried foods, french fries, pizza
